I wish you all a very very Merry Christmas….
I just touched the ground at JFK, from a very short and beautiful visit in Florida with my family. New York City tonight is bright and glittering with Christmas lights and a sweet lil’ chill in the air.
The above picture is my Grandma’s ice skating figures under her tree that I helped her set up. They were from when she was a little girl, and some of my best Christmas memories are playing under the tree, making them glide across the “ice” mirror and skiing down the rumples of glittering white material gathered around the tree.
I feel so full of love tonight. I know that sounds cheesy. But I do. Last year I didn’t celebrate Christmas because really sad things were going on. I lost one of my best friends. To be honest, I was really scared of Christmas this year. I was scared that it would bring up sad thoughts from last year. So I went down to Florida nervous. When I got there, I realized how lucky I am to have such a great family. Wonderful people that I’m so thankful to have in my life. And I spent really good quality time with them. I’m so proud to have all of them as my family, and I’m so lucky to have all of my amazing friends (which of course I’m including YOU in that). I’ve gotten so many really great letters and e-cards and calls from all of you…that I will return tomorrow, I promise.I am thankful for all of you. And I never take that for granted.
I am celebrating all the people in my life right now…those that are with me here on earth now…and those that have passed on. Our love is never broken.
The love that all of us have for each other is the best gift of all.
(…and well, that and the sugar cookies I made from my great-grandma’s recipe)
Sending all of you a huge hug and kiss (I carry around mistletoe everywhere with me – so look out!)
Also…a special hello to Miss Galexiegirl…I thought about you alot yesterday! Chuckie and Greta FOREVER!!! ♥ ♥ ♥
