My Darling Mercurial…

The other night I woke up from a dream at 5am.
In the dream, my Grandmother who I was very close with and who died when I was 12, had sent me a letter. When I opened it, there was a single sentence in gorgeous black flowing cursive. It read:
“Always remember…you are my darling mercurial.”
I knew the second I saw her writing that it was VERY important that I hold onto that sentence.
Then my Big Bird alarm clock went off in the dream (that I haven’t heard since I was about seven)…it said, “Time to wake up. Put one foot out of bed, now the other…have a good day.”
Then suddenly I’m wide awake…staring at the ceiling.
“My darling mercurial”, I scrawled in the dark into my journal.
For some reason, the word “mercurial” has alluded me my entire life and I was certain it was a made up weird dream word. I stared at the ceiling thinking of all the definitions I could make up for it.
I went to my proofreading gig two hours later and told the dream to my friend, Connie, who assured me it was in fact a word. She said it’s used as a adjective, as in, “a mercurial rise to the top”. She said it was my Grandma saying to get ready for everything to start happening with Revolver…and fast.
I really liked that thought.
Webster’s says: mercurial: having qualities of eloquence, ingenuity, or thievishness attributed to the god Mercury or to the influence of the planet Mercury
or characterized by rapid and unpredictable changeableness of mood
Who me?

“It had to start somewhere,
It had to start some time.
What better place than here?
What better time than now…”
